Optional analytics

If you allow it, I use Google Analytics to understand page visits and general browser and device information. Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish visits. Google also receives network information needed to handle those requests.

The site sends known page addresses without query strings or fragments. External referring addresses are reduced to the website’s origin. It does not send names, email addresses, form entries, or advertising identifiers, and I do not use Google’s advertising or personalization features.

Links I share can include predefined campaign labels and opaque post codes. If you allow analytics, these help me see which posts brought readers here. Other query values are discarded.

The Google script loads only after you allow analytics. Declining does not send Google an analytics request. Turning it off stops collection, removes this site’s Analytics cookies, and reloads the page to unload the Google script. Previously collected data is not removed by changing this setting.

Your preference and the Analytics cookies expire after 90 days. The preference is stored in this browser; it does not apply to your other devices. If browser storage is unavailable, a choice applies only to the current page.
